Ejoke Deke ( God is Good in Atesso)

This weekend, two Refuge and hope interns ( Missy and Robyn) and one staff member (Haryet) visited the two agricultural project sites in Kabarmeido. The community gardens for the arrow boys and widows are doing really well. Both groups were thankful to God for providing enough rain, sunlight and protection to their valuable crops. These crops provide the community nutrition as well as a small income for what crops they are able to sell at their local Saturday market. Both groups expressed their continual gratitude for the help that Refuge and Hope has offered to them. The Arrow Boys expressed this gratitude by providing the Center of Hope in Kampala with their largest watermelon.
Refuge and hope also hosted a school book distribution in Oudiboi, a city located in the Kabarmeido Province of Uganda. This school supply distribution was for children of widows. Many of these women are poor farmers whose only source of income is from the weekly Saturday market where they have the opportunity to sell their crop. Many of these women look after four or five children and struggle to find enough money to provide adequate food and clothing for their children. These school supplies are extremely valuable tools for the children as they assist in enabling them to attend school in the area.
Over fifty children and about thirty widows attended the school supply distribution. The children all received six notebooks and a pen for the upcoming semester. The widows also received notebooks and pens for their children who could not make it. All who attended and received these supplies were incredibly grateful. Before the distribution, the group prayed and sang a song of thanks. After the distribution was finished, many of the widows gave the Refuge and Hope staff gifts of thanks. These gifts included a pumpkin, grain, eggs, pineapple and a chicken. Most of these gifts were given from the personal crop of the widows. They were given with a lot of sacrifice and sincerity as they have very little. The generosity which they showed through the giving of these gifts was very humbling.
