Widows Agricultural Project

We are so excited that the widows in Kaberamaido are off to a good start with their gardens! Here they are digging in the fields preparing to transplant their vegetables.

Hard at work clearing the garden where the vegetables will be transplanted

Singing on their way to the garden

Tomato seedlings in the nursery bed, ready to be transplanted

Weeding cabbages in the nursery beds

Cassava plants

The ladies take a break to share a meal together

Taking instructions from the trainer to, "take off some grass so the vegetables can receive direct sunlight." The grass will later be used for mulching.
After a long day the ladies are so happy to have learned new words like "transplanting!" We are looking forward to the next visit to see how the gardens are progressing.
(The photos and descriptions were graciously submitted by Harriet, our wonderful Kaberamaido project coordinator!! Thank you Harriet!! )
